Welcome to the Congregational Library’s update for September! It’s slightly late, but better late than never… This month has mainly been spent preparing the library’s Reference books to go on the shelves. It has also been spent unpacking the “Misc. Adds.” collection onto one of the empty bays in the Cheshunt Room. “Misc. Adds.” is […]
We must begin with an apology: June 2026 slipped away so fast we had no time to post an update. July’s update, therefore, will have to make up for it. We have been very busy indeed, still emptying boxes and planning how to continue unpacking into the Carrie Room (… up a narrow spiral staircase, […]
We realise we start every update like this, but … unpacking continues! The end of the Cheshunt Room is in sight, and we have reached the call numbers beginning 124. The last call numbers intended for the Cheshunt Room begin with 133, so we are very nearly there. We have only one and a half […]

The big news is that shelving is being installed in the Carrie Room as we write: we will soon be finished unpacking in […]
Autumn has very definitely arrived, as evidenced by the drop in external temperatures recorded by our environmental monitors. Thankfully internal temperatures are steady enough in most areas of the Congregational Library; books, particularly old ones, don’t like fluctuations in temperature or humidity, so it’s good to see that our books are being kept in a […]
There’s quite a lot to report this month, and it’s all good news. We will soon be getting the Tower at Westminster College properly investigated and environmental monitors will be installed over the next few weeks. The Tower will make a lovely space for the library’s modern collection once we have collected enough information to […]
